Tour the iconic Roman Colosseum whose grand façade graces the center of the city. Take a step back into 2,000 years of history at the stunning Pantheon, whose majestic dome will take your breath away. See the grandiose Trevi Fountain and picnic on the famed Spanish Steps. Walk through the centuries-old ruins of the Roman Forum and marvel at Michelangelo’s masterpiece on the ceiling of Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel. Indulge in a creamy plate of homemade pasta at a Trastevere eatery.
Stroll down Via Condotti and browse the haute couture fashion boutiques. Here you’ll find the storefronts of major Italian designers, including Armani, Gucci, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. The pedestrian Via del Corso offers a wide range of shops, from high-end boutiques to bustling cafes.
The most thrilling outdoor activity in this city is undoubtedly winding through traffic on the back of a Vespa scooter. The less brave will find urban respite in Rome’s several green spaces, including the Villa Borghese, Villa Pamphili and the scenic Monte Mario.
Drift your way through the canals of Venice aboard an iconic Gondola. Discover Italian art, culture and cuisine on a tour of the sun-kissed Tuscany region. Walk among the ancient tombs of Pompeii and spend weekends exploring the cities of Naples, Assisi, Verona and Sperlonga.
Start your night by scarfing down a plate of pizza at a sidewalk café and then walking through medieval streets with a cup of gelato ice cream in hand. Then head to the Testaccio district, a hotspot of Rome’s trendy set, or wander over to the University district of San Lorenzo, filled with rowdy student bars and nightclubs. For a more sophisticated night out see an Italian opera at the famed Teatro dell’Opera.
