700 Russian Olympic athletes to study English with EF
Moscow, July 8, 2013 - EF English First Russia presented 700 language training licenses to the Russian Olympic Committee today. 700 athletes, candidates for Winter and Summer Olympic teams, selected by Russian sports federations, will start to study English with EF.
The Olympic athletes will gain access to the most modern resources for language learning and lessons with the best teachers – native English speakers. Their goal will be communicating with colleagues and journalists from other countries during international sporting events.
“EF English First has an established reputation as a reliable partner for quality education,” said ROC President Alexander Zhukov. “The training opportunity will be provided for both the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games candidates and potential teams for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympic Games. We have already started to prepare for the 2016 event.”
“The Olympic athletes need English to travel, communicate freely with colleagues from across the world, and foreign media,” Zhukov said. “Knowledge and experience, which everyone gets during the Games, form the post-Olympic heritage, which drives our country forward.”
In 2011 EF English First was selected to be the Official Provider for the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In this honorable role, EF English First committed to provide language training to employees, contractors, providers of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee and 25,000 volunteers.
A solid academic base and many years of experience enable EF to help in the preparation for the Games: a research center in Cambridge University, over 300 developers and scholars in Shanghai, Zurich and Cambridge, cooperation with world’s leading universities and accreditation in the most respected international organizations, such as British Council, ARELS, ACCET and others.
